Odyssey
Odyssey is a simple turn-based strategy game. It was originally written in Visual Basic 2008 over the course of two weeks as a high school final project, but has recently been re-written in Godot as a learning project. I left the artwork untouched during the upgrade - graphics have never been my forte.
Odyssey is a two person, turn-based strategy game with randomized maps and power-ups. Each of the characters looks identical, but can move in various ways, requiring players to constantly pay attention and remember what each of the enemy player’s characters are in order to know where it is safe to move and where it is not.
To move a unit, click on the unit, then on one of the surrounding arrow keys. On each team, two players can move in all directions, two players can only move diagonally, and two players can only move laterally. Attacking can only be done laterally, adding much more complexity to the game. To attack another player, move near an opposing player, and then click your unit. A red arrow will then appear above an enemy player, which can be clicked to get rid of an enemy player. When all of a playerís units are gone, that player loses, and the other player wins.
While not a terribly complicated game, as my first "real" game development project, I felt it was worth the effort to re-develop the game for modern systems.
